Mark Fell & Rian Treanor
6 DEC 20
Mark Fell is a multidisciplinary artist based in Rotherham (UK). Recognised as being “one of the most compelling and influential electronic artists in the world” his practice draws upon electronic music subcultures, experimental film, contemporary philosophy and radical politics. Over the past 30 years Fell’s output has grown into a significant body of work: from early electronic sound works and recorded pieces, to installation, critical texts, curatorial projects, educational systems and choreographic performances.
Rian Treanor is an artist and producer based in the North of the UK. His sound practice re-imagines the intersection of club culture, experimental art and computer music, presenting an insightful and compelling musical world of interlocking and fractured components. Drawing upon his study with Lupo at Berlin’s Dubplates & Mastering, plus years spent curating the Enjoy artspace in Leeds, Treanor’s sound uses off centred rhythmic arrangements, referencing the dynamics of garage and techno as much as Fluxus and Dada cut-ups. Since 2015 Treanor has focused on his solo sound works, developing musical environments for improvisations within his live performances. In their new series ‘Inter-symmetric Works’, the duo explores possibilities of remote participation. The concert visitors will be encourage to interact with the musical process via a special interface.
